One of the most widely used media for growth of fungi and bacteria. Synonym: Potato Glucose Agar.
Potato Dextrose Broth is used for the cultivation and enumeration of yeasts and molds, especially Fusarium species. When the pH is dropped to 3.5 to inhibit bacterial growth, using lactic acid, tartaric acid or another organic acid.
‧ Potato starch and dextrose support luxuriant growth of fungi
‧ Lowering the pH of the medium inhibits bacterial growth
‧ Recommended media for testing nonsterile pharmaceutical products
Composition：(In 39g PDA/1L H2O)
Glucose : 20g/lit.
Potato Extract : 4g/lit.
Agar : 15g/lit.
