3,3'-Diaminobenzidine consists of a biphenyl backbone, with each of the four carbon atoms at the para-position of the two benzene rings linked with Amino. This compound is commonly used as a ligand in coordination chemistry and catalysis, and it can coordinate with metal ions to form stable complexes with various applications. It can also be used as a starting material for the synthesis of other organic compounds and polymers.
Applications
· Aromatic poly(imide) networks for hydrogen storage applications.
· Various derivatives of quinoxalines by condensation with diketones.
· Mesitylene-containing poly(benzimidazolium) analogs (Mes-PBI) for alkali anion-exchange membrane.
· As peroxidase substrate and a reagent for spectrophotometric determination of selenium.
· DAB is used for the immunohistochemical staining of nucleic acids and proteins.
· As a dark brown dye, was used as an antibody-specific stain to identify the paired antibodies in breast tissue. · It may be used for the synthesis of a useful, linear, Schiff-base coordination polymer.
